Team

Mike Edwards and Steve Jordan started working together in 2004 when Steve joined his wife Sarah to race in the MiniTwins race series that Mike had founded and was organising at the time. MIST Suzuki Racing was set up to provide support for their racing during the season.

After getting to know a young rider called Matt Bond in 2004 Mike opted to stop racing himself and focus the resources of the team to help the talented eighteen year old the following year.

As a member of the team Matt achieved all the goals for 2005 by winning twenty-seven races, taking five lap records and achieving thirty-six podium finishes during the season. Matt was awarded the “Torquemeter Trophy” for being one of the “Top Solo Performers” in the MRO Championship 2005. Previous winners of the trophy include Mike Hailwood, John Surtees and Terry Rymer.

Matt won the MRO MiniTwins championship and managed a string of nine consecutive race wins that were televised as part of the PowerBike Tour and BikeSportUK programmes shown on Sky Sports and Motors TV. Matt also took fourth in the Bemsee MiniTwins series despite not contesting the full championship.

The team scored a further two race wins and a second place when Mike lent his bike to another “Mike Edwards”, this time it was Mike “Spike” Edwards, ex-British SuperSport 600 champion, who had agreed to a one off ride to help promote the series and the team. To demonstrate the talent within the team it was Matt Bond who beat the regular European race winner in to second place. Steve Jordan also added to the successful result sheet with a race win and four podium finishes during the year.
