Chris started racing in 2003 in the Derbi series. He also raced a 125cc Aprilia that year.
2004 saw a move to compete on a KTM 525SX in the SuperMono championship before progressing to a 600cc machine for the first time.
He completed his first full season on a 600 in 2005 in various regional championships before moving to the National series in 2006.
